What are Project Management Contractors?

Project Management Contractors are professionals hired on a temporary basis to oversee and manage specific projects within an organization. They are responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring that goals are met on time and within budget. Unlike full-time employees, they typically work on contract for the duration of a project and may manage multiple projects for different clients. Their expertise helps organizations complete projects efficiently without the long-term commitment of a permanent hire.

What is the difference between Project Management Contractor vs Project Coordinator?

What are some common challenges faced by Project Management Contractors and how can they be effectively addressed?

Project Management Contractors often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new organizational cultures and project teams, as they typically work on a contract basis for diverse clients. Building trust and clear communication with stakeholders in a short time frame is crucial. To address these challenges, it's important to establish clear expectations early, maintain transparent documentation, and leverage strong interpersonal skills to integrate smoothly with existing teams. About United Contractor Services:
United Contractor Services is a national commercial construction subcontractor delivering high-quality drywall and related services to some of the most recognized names in the industry. As a premier drywall specialty contractor, we have a track record of completing projects on time and on budget, project after project. We work as a collaborative, driven team - and we're looking to add someone ready to grow with us.

About the Role:
We're hiring an Assistant Project Manager who works well in a fast-paced setting, enjoys working with people, and has a talent for keeping projects on track. Partnering closely with our Project Managers and other key stakeholders, you'll help ensure our commercial drywall projects are delivered successfully from start to finish. It's a strong opportunity to build hands-on construction project management experience with a clear path to advance.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Coordinate communication between project managers, clients, and field teams to keep everyone aligned.
  • Support planning, scheduling, and resource management to keep projects on time and on budget.
  • Work with field crews to uphold quality standards and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Step in to solve unexpected challenges with a resourceful, can-do approach.
  • Track project progress, maintain accurate records, and keep stakeholders updated.
  • Look for ways to improve processes and make a real impact on how the team operates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1+ years in commercial construction or project coordination, ideally with some exposure to drywall, finishing, or a related trade.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with construction management software is a plus.

What Makes You a Fit:

  • Strong Communicator: You're comfortable interacting with teams and clients and keep everyone in the loop.
  • Organized: You manage multiple tasks and deadlines without letting details slip.
  • Team-Oriented: You work well alongside others toward shared goals.
  • Resourceful: You think on your feet and bring solutions, not just problems.
  • Self-Driven: You take initiative and look for ways to contribute.

Why Join Us:

  • Real growth opportunities through training, mentorship, and career advancement
  • A dynamic environment where no two days look the same
  • A friendly, collaborative culture that celebrates wins together
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
