Job description

Northeast Arc is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Adult Autism Support Specialist to join our team!
Job Summary: Serves as a key member of the Adult Autism Support Center team, providing direct support to adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families throughout the Northeast Region. Facilitates access to services, resources, and community engagement opportunities that promote independence and quality of life.
Job Type: Remote unless traveling for home visits and community events; occasionally events run beyond the typical 9-5 schedule.
Location: Lowell & Northeast Region
Schedule: 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday
Pay-Rate: $28.50-$30.00
Major Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for adults with autism within the assigned area
  • Provides information and referrals to individuals and families, including mental health resources related to ASD
  • Designs and delivers individualized social skills curriculum covering topics such as online safety, money management, relationships, workplace success, and healthy living
  • Develops outreach materials and conducts community engagement efforts
  • Collaborates with community organizations and internal departments to create personalized social experiences and integrate individuals into group activities
  • Organizes speakers, workshops, and educational events for adults with autism and their families
  • Works collaboratively with the Adult Autism Support Center team to ensure comprehensive service coverage across the Northeast Region.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required; LMFT preferred Minimum of 3 years' experience working with adults with ASD, including those without intellectual disabilities Experience with mental health, sensory, executive functioning, and socialization challenges associated with ASD
Skills:
Knowledge of family systems and comfort working with both individuals and families. Strong understanding of DDS, DMH, MRC, and MassHealth programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and solve problems. Familiarity with community-based resources and the statewide adult service system. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms. Valid driver's license required
Physical Demands:
Must drive to various locations for outreach and support purposes. Light physical effort may be required, ability to stand for periods of time.
