Job description

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Amazon Leo Productivity Engineering Application Services (ALPEAS) is looking for a System Development Engineer to own the deployment, administration, and automation of productivity tools - primarily Jama Connect and related engineering collaboration platforms - within Amazon Leo. You will build and operate infrastructure in AWS GovCloud to support Leo's systems engineering, requirements management, and test management workflows at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Jama Connect Operations: Deploy, configure, maintain, and scale Jama Connect infrastructure in AWS GovCloud, ensuring high availability, performance, and security compliance (ITAR/EAR).
- Infrastructure as Code: Design and implement CDK stacks for application infrastructure including compute (EC2/ECS), databases (RDS/Aurora), networking (VPC, PrivateLink, NLB), and storage.
- Automation & Integration: Build automation for user provisioning, access management, backups, patching, and monitoring

Develop integrations between Jama and other Kuiper tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, TestRail).
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security controls compliant with ITAR and export control regulations. Manage access through least-privilege models.
- Monitoring & Incident Response: Build dashboards, alarms, and runbooks. Participate in on-call rotation to ensure service reliability.
- Tool Evaluation & Adoption: Evaluate, pilot, and onboard new productivity tools to support Kuiper's engineering workflows

Drive user training and adoption.

In this role, you will function as both an Jama/productivity tools DevOps Engineer. You will operate various collaboration tools stacks in AWS GovCloud, develop automation for upgrades/patching/testing, and enhance observability of the systems. You will work with stakeholders and senior engineers to design and develop custom solutions and integrations between the productivity tools and other services in a secure manner.
