Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Type: 12-month Contract Compensation: $55.00 - $57.00 per hour Contractor Work Model: Hybrid – (4 Days Onsite, Remote 1-Day Per week) Project Engineer will support capital projects at wind farms across the region, primarily in Southwest Minnesota, with sites throughout MN, SD, and nearby areas. Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately a dozen projects per year, overseeing the entire project lifecycle at wind facilities.
  • Plan and schedule capital projects at wind farms.
  • Order equipment and coordinate with contractors.
  • Communicate and collaborate with site Operations & Maintenance teams.
  • Perform limited research and development to select optimal equipment options.
  • Manage a multiyear (5-year) project portfolio, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure quality, adherence to schedule, and control costs.
  • Travel during construction windows to oversee installations, as needed.
  • Engage in desk-based planning and scheduling, including opening and planning work orders.
  • Coordinate schedules and field visits with contractors.
  • Work with O&M teams to align priorities.
  • Research equipment options and document decisions.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecast project portfolios.
  • Occasionally visit sites during construction to oversee work.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical preferred; other disciplines considered), ideally from an ABET-accredited program
  • Project management experience
  • PMP certification (nice to have)
  • PE license (nice to have)
  • Renewables experience, especially wind energy
  • Strong communication skills, critical due to multisite coordination
  • Ability to work effectively with O&M teams
  • Independent problem solving and ownership
  • Approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience
  • Strong renewables project management background considered, even without a degree (engineering degree highly preferred, not required)
