ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position is concerned with the implementation of Project Engineering functions and effective coordination with other departments. The individual will usually carry out specific assignments with supervision, as required, based on the level of capability gained.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individual with a disability to perform the essential functions.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Perform detailed technical/mathematical calculations required to solve design issues.
  • Design specific parts or minor phases of a project, as directed.
  • Define theoretical problems for computer analysis and solution via Finite Element Analysis, thermal simulation software, or classical equations implemented in Mathcad.
  • Apply appropriate methods and techniques to the work assignments, exercise originality, ingenuity, and initiative.
  • Assist other engineering personnel in the functions of calculation, design layout, testing, etc.
  • Support preparation of project schedules, progress reports, and cost analyses on projects, as required.
  • Review and check work done by other personnel assigned to a project.
  • Assist other engineers and personnel of other departments, as necessary.
  • Utilize the Company’s ERP system in product support tasks.
  • Attend technical meetings and stay abreast of technological advancements.
  • Perform special projects as directed.

Summary: Required to support new design and ongoing engineering issues that arise during the manufacture of the product. DC Fabricators designs and manufactures (on site) heat transfer equipment for the United States Navy for Nuclear Submarines and Surface Ships (such as Aircraft Carriers). This equipment mainly includes large steam surface condensers, water to water heat exchangers and oil coolers. This equipment is designed to meet heat transfer requirements and be able to withstand stresses due to seawater pressure, potential shock events (underwater explosions), galvanic corrosion, erosion, thermal fatigue, high velocity vibration and the thermal loading conditions that can be encountered during submarine/ship service.

SKILLS amp; ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or in a related engineering curriculum.
Experience: Some exposure to a heavy manufacturing environment is desirable.
Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills required. Must have a working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft applications such as WORD, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Must have ability to effectively utilize the Company's design and modeling software.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to assist in the execution of complex manufacturing plans.
