Job Summary
Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Sylacuaga, AL
SHIFT: Monday-Friday, dayshift, onsite
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer is responsible for Project Management of capital projects to support this Division of Imerys' engineering strategy.
  • Provide engineering design, planning, cost and benefit analysis, cost tracking and construction/project management.
  • Assist in developing the annual budget and project priority plan.
  • Develop project scope and perform detailed studies to define project requirements.
  • Ensure that design and installation comply with all applicable building codes, regulations and company requirements for operations, maintenance, safety and production.
  • Prepare detailed project/construction plans with full alignment with operations, EHS, and quality.
  • Assist Operations in Asset Reliability initiatives and cost reduction projects.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager, and Operations Managers, to develop the capital budget for the plants.
  • Prepare and submit plant improvement and major maintenance projects from estimating, scheduling, design, cost management, and commissioning to improve plant processes.
  • Supervise, train, communicate with, and develop project team members in operational performance and skills needed to ensure project completion and plant commissioning.
  • Work closely with the Production Department and Process Engineering Group to perform process performance testing, develop cost reduction projects, equipment improvement, and methods modifications.
  • Troubleshoot plant equipment failures and respond to emergencies of safety hazards and environmental regulation infractions to ascertain equipment optimization, personnel safety and governing requirements of compliance.
  • Develop standards for equipment to improve reliability, inventory control of critical equipment through specifications, but demonstrated practices.
  • Develop procurement standards to ensure maximum operating hours for production equipment, quality of product and on time shipment for our customers

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Experience with maintaining process equipment desired.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, maintenance, and project management experience.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Google sheets, Excel, Word, SAP, etc.) and basic Computer Aided Design skills (AutoCAD).
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations in support of engineering principles and theories.
  • Ability to prepare and manage contracts with outside vendors and a working knowledge of Environmental Regulations and how they relate to the operation.
  • Experience with maintaining process equipment desired.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, maintenance, and project management experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in Engineering, Mechanical or Structural discipline preferred
  • At least 5 years' experience in a continuous processing manufacturing environment
  • At least 5 years' experience in a lean manufacturing environment
