Job description

Sterling Search Partners is helping a Birmingham client with its search for a Project Engineer. We are seeking a hands‑on, highly organized Project Engineer to coordinate equipment projects, support engineering activities, and work with customers, engineering teams, and international partners from project planning through installation and completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate multiple equipment projects, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Serve as a key liaison between customers, engineering/manufacturing teams, service personnel, and international partners.
  • Coordinate equipment installation, site preparation, and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain 2D layouts, 3D models, equipment drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Customize equipment designs to meet customer applications.
  • Support engineering calculations, simulations, tooling, and process improvements.
  • Use project-management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and Gantt charts.
  • Support 3D printing, technical presentations, animations, and other value-added services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, project execution, and customer support.
  • Assist with manufacturing, service, and technical initiatives as needed.
Travel

Occasional travel throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and Germany is required for customer visits, equipment installations, trade shows, and equipment testing. Valid passport and international travel capability required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in project engineering, project management, industrial equipment, manufacturing, automation, or a related field.
  • Experience with 2D drafting and 3D CAD modeling.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-scheduling software.
  • Experience with 3D printing, simulation software, technical animation, or foundry/core-making processes is a plus.
  • German or Spanish language skills are beneficial but not required.
