Job Description Project Engineer / APM - Heavy Civil - Chicago area A well established, employee owned heavy civil contractor is seeking a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager to support transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Chicago region. The company specializes in bridge construction, rail infrastructure, marine projects, deep foundation work, sheeting and pile driving. Responsibilities
  • Manage DOT and rail construction activities - Assist in managing construction activities for DOT, rail and structural projects.
  • Review plans and technical documents - Prepare and review plans, calculations, specifications and estimates.
  • Coordinate with project teams - Work closely with project managers, field teams, clients and design partners.
  • Support schedules and budgets - Assist with schedules, budgets, procurement and resource planning.
  • Participate in inspections and rehabilitation work - Support inspections, rehabilitation activities and load rating tasks when applicable.
  • Ensure compliance - Maintain adherence to project requirements, standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical support - Assist junior staff and contribute to proposal preparation as needed.
Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree required.
  • 4 to 5 years of structural or transportation experience in bridge, rail, transit or transportation structures.
  • PE license or ability to obtain - PE preferred or ability to obtain within one to two years.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills - Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
