Civil Engineer / Project Manager - Water Resources

Fishbeck is seeking a talented and motivated Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join our Infrastructure Division, supporting a wide range of water resources projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with municipalities, drain commissioners, and other clients on impactful stormwater and floodplain projects from initial study through design and construction.
This position is ideal for a licensed professional with strong technical expertise, a client-focused mindset, and the ability to lead and manage projects while mentoring team members and delivering high-quality solutions.
What You'll Work On
  • Engage with both potential and existing clients to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Develop proposals, project plans, scopes, and schedules.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of water resources projects.
  • Design stormwater management, drainage systems, stream restoration, and floodplain projects.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and modeling.
  • Oversee construction contract administration and provide project leadership.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior staff.
  • Participate in professional organizations and networking opportunities to support business development.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 8+ years of experience in stormwater and/or floodplain management.
  • Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, TR-55).
  • Experience with Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management, floodplain management, and related regulatory frameworks (e.g., Michigan Drain Code, EGLE permitting).
  • Proven ability to manage projects and interact with clients.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Visual acuity and coordination necessary to perform engineering tasks and field observations.
