The position focuses on mechanical and HVAC design for projects in sectors such as K-12 education, healthcare, and multifamily developments, with a strong emphasis on project management and direct client interaction. You will join a small, growing engineering team where you can shape your career path toward either project management or advanced design, depending on your interests.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through final completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and scope are consistently met.
  • Collaborate directly with clients to understand project requirements, present design options, and maintain strong communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform detailed HVAC design, including system selection, layout, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Develop and review mechanical design drawings and specifications using Revit, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
  • Complete mechanical load calculations to support system sizing and design decisions.
  • Redline and mark up drawings to communicate design changes, corrections, and improvements to the production team.
  • Coordinate plumbing and piping design elements as needed to support overall mechanical systems.
  • Oversee day-to-day project management tasks, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and progress tracking.
  • Work closely with internal teams across mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.

The role is based in a newer office in the North Loop area with the option for some remote work, providing a modern and collaborative environment. You will work closely with a small local team of approximately three to four people and connect regularly with a broader group of about eight colleagues in another office that includes mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural professionals. The schedule is Monday through Friday with flexible hours, allowing you to balance work and personal commitments while meeting project and client needs. You will use Revit and other engineering tools daily to produce and refine mechanical designs, and you will work directly with a leader who focuses on business development and project management, providing opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.
