Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the Chief Project Engineer, the Supervisor, Project Execution, is responsible for the field supervision and coordination of site project execution activities within the Site Engineering department.This role ensures that all project work performed by internal teams, contractors, and consultants is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Teck’s standards, policies, and procedures.

The Supervisor plays a critical role in bridging project planning and field execution, enabling Project Managers to focus on strategic project delivery, cost control, and planning while ensuring high-quality execution on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct field supervision of project execution activities across multiple disciplines within Site Engineering
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of Maintenance, Operations personnel, contractors, and consultants assigned to projects
  • Ensure all work is executed safely, in compliance with Teck policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring workers are properly trained, informed of hazards, and equipped to perform their work safely
  • Monitor field progress and ensure project execution aligns with scope, schedule, and budget expectations
  • Conduct routine field inspections and follow-ups to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to design specifications
  • Support the development and execution of project plans, including sequencing of work and resource coordination
  • Contribute expertise to project planning by assisting with construction execution strategies and labour estimation
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to safety, quality, and schedule during project execution
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and professionalism
Qualifications
  • Trade certification, technical diploma, degree, or similar qualification in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience in construction, maintenance, or project execution within a mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Proven supervisory experience leading field teams, contractors, and cross-functional work groups
  • Solid understanding of project execution practices, including planning, coordination, and field supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and compliance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, project scopes, and technical documentation
  • Experience supporting project planning, labour estimation, and execution strategy development is considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license

Pay Range: CAD $108,000 - $133,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.


Working Conditions:

  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
