Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Roadway Transportation Engineer to join our team in Jackson, MS.  This role supports our continued growth and offers the opportunity to work on (or support) meaningful projects alongside a collaborative, experienced team. Summary : 
The Senior Roadway Transportation Engineer is responsible for planning, design, and construction support for highway and urban projects. This includes transportation improvement projects in roadway design, geometric design, drainage analysis, signal design, and traffic reports for City, County, and State agencies.


Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
·         Prepares and monitors project budgets for transportation design projects
·         Oversees project schedules and timely completion of projects
·         Serves as a project engineer and as a designated client contact
·         Assists in construction bids or negotiations, including pre-bid conferences, interpretations and post-bid evaluations and contract preparation
·         Monitors work-in-progress on team projects
·         Stamps or seals work prepared by him/her or under his/her direction
·         Participates in pre-project presentations, interviews, and promotions
·         Manages and monitors performance of personnel assigned to their projects
·         Establishes and maintains cordial and professional working relations with clients and contractors and attends client meetings
·         Other duties as assigned

What you'll need
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE registered in the State of MS or ability to obtain
  • 5+ years of experience in the technical production of engineering projects, including significant direct experience in the planning and execution of roadway and related projects
  • Working experience withBentley MicroStation, GEOPAK/InRoads and OpenRoads Designer
  • Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports
  • Experience with the development of construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Superior communication skills and in-depth knowledge of company products and operations
  • Ability to manage a small number of projects
  • Self-motivated with a team player attitude
Preferred: 
  • 3+ years of experience in planning, design, and construction administration of projects in compliance with MDOT, and, particularly, LPA standards and practices
  • One to two years coordination/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro, Vissum or Sidra 
 Other Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the implementation of public works infrastructure projects, particularly related to roadway and transportation.
  • Understand principles of urban transportation planning, including traffic forecasting and analysis, land use planning and zoning.
  • Understand and apply principles of traffic signalization to the design of roadway and intersection improvements.
