ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are always in search of talented Project Engineers, who are looking to grow and join a dynamic and rewarding team.The ideal candidate will be very knowledgeable in project engineering within the construction industry, willing to learn, take initiative, positive and committed to excellence.

Job Summary

Project Engineer follows duties and responsibilities as assigned by Project Manager(s).These may include items related to assisting in managing, planning and coordinating technical engineering initiative to make sure the project is within their budget and according to a schedule. Ensure projects uphold standards, developing project implementation plans and adjusting specifications for elements of a project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Engineer will assist with tasks and duties as requested by Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.

  • Assisting project manager on a daily basis
  • Preparing and managing purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
  • Assist with scanning and filing receipts, tickets, etc.
  • Assist with review and process of time sheets from field employees.
  • Photograph and document work areas as needed.
  • Use of construction management software to track and report cost related to construction project.
  • Deliver documentation, paperwork, payments to different locations around El Paso.
  • Perform Takeoffs and quantifications of plans as needed.
  • Coordinate orders and deliveries of materials with different vendors.

Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities

  • A bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering or related field of study.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software.
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies standards and best practices in the following areas:
    • Project management
    • Construction methods and procedures
    • Process improvement.
    • Technical understanding
    • Documentation skills
    • Safety management

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Must be able to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50lbs.

Must be work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the indoor & outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust

Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels.

Able to walk on uneven surfaces.

Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

Additional Qualifying Factors
