Dewberry is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for our New York, NY office with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical systems design and analysis (projects). Duties will include mechanical/HVAC engineering design (Boiler and Chiller Plants and larger scale HVAC systems design), building information modeling (BIM) using Revit MEP software Bently BIM and/or MicroStation experience a plus, CAD drafting using AutoCad software, HVAC load calculations and energy modeling using Trane Trace 3D software, drawing production, specification writing and equipment selection, discipline coordination between the various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews for MEP systems for various projects.

Responsibilities
  • Strong Project Engineering skills - Manage the design of projects with Mechanical Construction Value(s) up to $10 MM.
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with entry/staffengineers, technicians or administrative staff.
  • Assists in determining technical, schedule and budget (staffing/manhours) requirements.
  • Interface and coordinate with architects and other disciplines and working with others as needed on projects.
  • Perform basic code reviews.
  • Attend meetings, prepare meeting minutes, conduct site visits and field inspections of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Prepare mechanical and HVAC engineering analysis, calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Serve as Project Manager on small projects.

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • NYS Professional Engineering License.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with MEP projects, especially mechanical and HVAC system design.
  • Must have experience designing mechanical and HVAC systems and producing design documents for buildings in Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with MS Office programs (WORD, Excel, etc.)
  • Good communications skills - Oral and written.
  • Experience in running HVAC loads and energy modeling with Trane Trace 3D Software preferred.
  • Must be a self-motivated, pro-active professional with drive and determination.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
