Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for a utility-scale new generation (gas) self-build project development team that supports the corporation's reliability and sustainability goals. Manage the expansion of the development pipeline through land acquisition; development asset purchases; greenfield project development activities; procurement of Owner's Engineer and other project support services; negotiation of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contracts; and providing oversight of all front-end loading stages for utility scale power generation asset development or portfolios of projects to assure an effective hand-off to an oversight team for successful execution.
This individual is a leader with demonstrated experience in project development with commercial acumen and a strong advocate for the partnering process with key stakeholders including internal/external support groups across Entergy and contractor partners. This individual is responsible for the leadership needs of his/her cross-functional team; executing a development strategy; applying his/her technology understanding and experience; and building an effective relationship network with key internal and external individuals.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Grows an effective project development team that is focused on delivering power generation projects that enable the enterprise to meet the stated sustainability commitments and generation resource needs. Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and that of the key stakeholders.
  • Understands the roles of the Utility and regulators in project development and viability.
  • Manages the development of the project vision and execution philosophy, along with deliverables necessary to progress a project through a Stage Gate Project Lifecycle Process.
  • Works closely with the regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications.
  • Utilizes Commercial Expertise to solidify commercial agreements, including Real Estate agreements, and delivers successfully negotiated contracts with the partnership of key stakeholders.
  • Full understanding of the contractual aspects of projects and the need to create a contracting strategy that delivers superior economic performance and that can be executed safely, with high quality while delivering cost and schedule certainty.
  • Support and/or lead contract negotiations for contracts and fulfill duties as contract manager, as needed.
  • Manages risks to ensure risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Develops critical relationships with key stakeholders and project contributors.
  • Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management.
  • Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project.
  • This position is required to support enterprise-wide DIB initiatives across the project team.
  • Mentorship and individual development of their team members.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
  • Bachelor's in Business, Management, Finance, Engineering, or similar degree. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position
  • At least 10 years' experience in project development and management experience. Utility-scale gas or renewable generation project development experience is preferred
