Grain Origination Sales Internship:

Cargill's Ag & Trading connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain. We help our customers contend in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and sustainable agriculture products and solutions. Ag & Trading business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.  

This internship will provide students an opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a sales, risk management, carbon markets and grain origination environment. Students will gain hands-on experience working on business projects within our sales and origination function, working with grain producers over the phone and on the farm. Responsibilities may include: assisting Strategic Farm Representatives and Grain Origination Merchants, and other personnel in identifying and developing customer solutions and services, as well as regional grain origination objectives.

Internship Details:
  • Internships are typically 12 weeks in duration.  
  • Interns are paid hourly for time worked.  
  • Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work.  
  • Travel approximately 50% or less 
  • Interns who demonstrate outstanding performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered an internship, co-op or full-time position to return the following year.

Compensation:

The expected hourly rate for this position is $20.63 - $28.56. Compensation decisions are dependent on graduation date and eligibility for full-time employment.

Job Locations:
  • Various U.S. Locations - including, but may not be limited to: Linden, IN; Minneapolis, MN; Olathe, KS; Sidney, OH
  • Office and Field Setting 
  • Travel approximately 50% or less 
  • Frequent travel by personal vehicle within assigned region for meetings. You must have a safe driving history; a motor vehicle record history will be reviewed 
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program (all majors considered) graduating between December 2027 and August 2028  
  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer 
  • Valid driver's license in the United States  
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 50% as needed 
  •  Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2027)
  • Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.
  • Proven ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures 
  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
  • Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program with a major in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Management or similar agricultural subject area  
  • Current access or can obtain access to personal vehicle for use of travel within assigned sales region for duration of internship  
  • Overall 3.0 GPA or higher based off of a 4.0 scale  
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with ability to influence decision-making  
  • Leadership skills and experience
