Project Engineer – Mechanical Construction

Location: Anaheim, CA

A growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial mechanical construction projects throughout Southern California. This is an opportunity to join a team where you will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to support projects from preconstruction through completion.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a mechanical contracting environment and understand the full project lifecycle, including estimating, submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and field coordination.

Responsibilities:
  • Support Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and closeout materials.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, engineers, and internal project teams.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify potential issues and ensure successful execution.
  • Assist with estimating, takeoffs, proposals, and pricing for new work and change orders.
  • Support procurement activities including equipment, materials, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Participate in job walks, project meetings, and field coordination efforts.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, commitments, and overall project progress.
  • Assist with commissioning, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer within mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, MEP, or a related field.
  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project documentation, and coordination.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Background:
  • Commercial HVAC experience.
  • Experience supporting projects from estimating/preconstruction through completion.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms.
