Job description

Job Summary:
The Project Controls Lead is responsible for overseeing and integrating all project controls functions, including scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and reporting, to ensure successful project execution. This role provides leadership, guidance, and strategic insight to project teams, enabling informed decision-making, risk mitigation, and alignment with project objectives for scope, schedule, and cost.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of project controls systems, processes, and tools across projects.
  • Oversee project planning activities, including schedule development, cost estimating, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Manage and review detailed project schedules and cost reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project goals.
  • Perform integrated cost and schedule analysis, including earned value management (EVM), variance analysis, and trend forecasting.
  • Establish and maintain project baselines (scope, schedule, and cost) and ensure proper change management controls are in place.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to project managers and senior leadership based on data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and opportunities related to cost and schedule.
  • Develop and present comprehensive reports, dashboards, and performance updates to stakeholders and executives.
  • Lead and mentor project controls personnel, including schedulers, cost engineers, and analysts.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, contractual requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment on project controls processes and deliverables.
  • Support audits, reviews, and project closeout activities, ensuring proper documentation and lessons learned are captured.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Make occasional field trips.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including scheduling techniques and critical path methodology (CPM).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced environment.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
