Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‐12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant located in Amarillo, Texas.

Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance Y-12's core mission to ensure a safe, secure, and reliable U.S. nuclear deterrent, which is essential to national security. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from Y-12 staff employed directly by the security complex. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing technical activities of assigned projects to ensure efficient and timely completion of work in accordance with Government and Plant directives.
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs activities to meet demands of Project Management (PM) mission in accordance with assigned organizational authorities and responsibilities.
  • Provides technical aptitude, integration and leadership for planning, scheduling, monitoring, configuration control, analysis, and reporting on multiple scopes of varying size, complexity, and level of risk.
  • Ensure Project Managers are provided with tools to confirm projects are on track, within budget and within compliance of requirements.
  • Participates in planning, development, monitoring, and control of project scope, cost, and schedule integration.
  • Utilizes tools and systems necessary to effectively and proactively manage, control, and report on cost and schedule for concurrent projects.
  • Manages development of cost, schedule, and risk plans, collection of performance data, tracking data, analysis, development of forecast of estimate to complete, and reporting.
  • Ensures identification and tracking of changes/potential changes to project scope, ensuring estimates of cost changes and schedule impact are given visibility with client and PM.
  • Manages integration of cost and schedule data and reporting with company’s accounting and management information systems to facilitate meeting company performance and financial goals.
  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper business input is collected, analyzed, and resulting output distributed, as required.
  • Takes a leading role in driving organization and company toward established visions and objectives.
  • Position requires demonstrated knowledge and experience of control systems including Earned Value
  • Management and applicable project management processes.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in reporting to customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels across organization and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and develop required resources to support project schedules; ability to logically and systematically evaluate project and process problems to determine appropriate solutions; ability to interface with internal and external customers, including management, users and DOE, NNSA and NPO.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree + 10-14 years of relevant experience or Associates + 14 years relevant experience.
  • A Q clearance or ability to get one is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in planning and schedule compliance.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in cost control, change management, and variance reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, a high level of personal motivation, high standards, and the ability to work with the team and support organizations to address/resolve project issues and meet short deadlines.
  • Must have Primavera P6 experience.
    Demonstrated advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and/or WebEVM (CloudEVM).
  • Experience in Empower.


Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 25+ years of scheduling experience.
  • 15+ years of scheduling experience on DOE 413.3b projects, and a working knowledge and understanding of DOE policies, procedures, and requirements in areas associated with project controls.
  • Advanced experience in Empower.
  • Cross functional experience in Project/Control Account Management for DOE projects; experience with managing multiple scopes of work and multiple vendors.

  • Pre-employment Drug Screen - external applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
