Job description

Summary/Objective

The Quality Control Associate 1 is responsible for reviewing loan files to confirm they are complete, that outstanding Prior to Purchase conditions are met, and that the loan files meet secondary market guidelines for both Conventional and Government (FHA, VA, and USDA) Mortgage loans.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for completing full and detailed post-closing quality control reviews of secondary market closed loans and portfolio loans.
  • Help customers with compliance and documentation needs and questions.
  • Communicate with various departments and Credit Unions for correction of missing documents or rejected conditions and correspond with all investors when needed.
  • Tracking and communication of QC suspense files and working with QC Manager on outstanding items that need addressed.
  • Responsible for weekly QC suspense spreadsheet tracking emailed out to individual Credit Union management team members.
  • Ensure files are prepared and transmitted for Investor, Agency, Mortgage Insurance, and Third-Party audits as requested.
  • Review all Government loans for accuracy for Endorsement and Guarantee.
  • Ensure all outstanding conditions have supporting documentation attached in the electronic loan file prior to approving loan for purchase.
  • Give final approval for files that will be sold to the Secondary market.
  • Assist Credit Unions with appraisal order questions and manual assignments.
  • Observes all MMS guidelines and policies.
  • Completes all other special projects and assignments as required or assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a high school education.
  • Entry level position, although experience in the mortgage loan process and knowledge in secondary market is preferred.
  • Ability to work in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management abilities.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
