Job description

Underwriters Laboratories receives project samples from companies around the world to help verify that client products continue to meet applicable safety standards and certification requirements. The Associate FUS Project Owner plays an important role in receiving, processing, coordinating, and reporting results for these sample-based compliance projects.

This role works to become proficient in Follow-Up Services project management systems while managing projects for a limited number of product categories with some supervision. The position requires strong organization, follow-up, communication, and time management skills to support timely project movement and effective coordination with clients, Engineering, Laboratory teams, and regional or remote partners.

This role also supports process improvement efforts and requires a professional, collaborative, and accountable approach, with a strong focus on client needs, timely follow-up, effective decision-making, and successful coordination across internal and external partners.

  • Experience communicating and coordinating professionally with external clients and internal partners, including Engineering and Laboratory teams, with the ability to navigate challenging situations effectively.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer programs is required, including the ability to efficiently use office-based tools to manage project information, documentation, communication, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Power BI, and other business or reporting applications is preferred, with an emphasis on comfort learning and working across multiple systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are key, including the ability to prioritize work, track multiple project details, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability with limited supervision.
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners and regional or remote teams is important to this role, as success depends on effective coordination, follow-up, and collaboration across multiple groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, communicate professionally, take ownership of assigned work, and make timely decisions in support of client and business needs.
  • Associate or higher degree preferred; candidates with a High School Diploma or GED may also be considered based on relevant experience, skills, and overall qualifications.

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimated salary range for this position is $47,400 to $63,100 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours)

  • Coordinate the timely movement of product compliance projects through the submission, laboratory, engineering and review workflow to support service commitments and safety certification expectations.
  • Update and complete project records in business systems once required activities, reviews, or laboratory work have been completed.
  • Manage the receipt and tracking of client-submitted samples, including communication with clients and verification of materials received.
  • Coordinate the review and resolution of project issues or nonconforming findings in partnership with Engineering, Laboratory, and other internal teams.
  • Monitor project closure activities to help ensure open items are resolved, records are complete, and projects are closed accurately.
  • Manage an assigned workload with appropriate supervision while maintaining strong organization, follow-up, and accountability.
  • Prepare project documentation used to support laboratory testing, data capture, and project reporting.
  • Develop working knowledge of assigned product categories, project requirements, and administrative processes that support ongoing product safety compliance.
  • Support additional project coordination, administrative, and operational activities as needed.
