Summary: Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. We are focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
The Finance Intern will own an assigned summer project while working directly on business functions such as financial analysis, investor relations, capital markets, and both business and corporate development.
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)


Job Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Work on an assigned, individual Finance project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team

  • Develop and increase knowledge of finance within the oil and gas industry under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor

  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly deliverables for senior executives and the Board of Directors

  • Support maintaining the corporate financial model and NAV

  • Maintain knowledge of both debt and equity capital markets

  • Interface with other departments to understand the processes that drive key business outcomes

  • Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and active completions spread

  • Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a similar discipline

  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and high attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint

  • Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship

  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.40 or higher

  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience

  • Familiarity with the upstream sector and oil and gas industry as a whole

  • Prior internship experience within a financial setting
