Gain hands-on experience supporting the teams that help keep construction projects organized, compliant, and financially on track. You'll work alongside Project Coordinators, Project Accountants, Business Managers, and construction project teams while developing practical business and accounting skills.
At ESI Construction, interns don't just observe the work, they become part of Team ESI and contribute to the success of real projects and business operations. You'll gain real-world experience supporting active construction projects, develop technical and professional skills, and learn how your role contributes to successful project delivery.
Many ESI interns return for additional internship experiences, and for some, the program serves as a pathway to full-time opportunities after graduation.

Internship Overview

Potential Responsibilities
Project Coordination
  • Provide administrative support to project teams.
  • Assist with bid-related activities and project setup.
  • Support project documentation management, correspondence, and tracking logs.
  • Assist with subcontract and purchase order distribution and tracking.
  • Support compliance documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with change management document distribution and tracking.
  • Support project closeout documentation and archival processes.

Project Accounting
  • Assist with subcontractor payment administration and joint check documentation.
  • Support contract and state compliance requirements.
  • Assist with project accounting activities and financial reporting.
  • Support subcontract payment processing.
  • Assist with accounting-related closeout activities.
  • Participate in various project financial and administrative processes.
  • Additional responsibilities and learning opportunities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be within two years, or less, of graduation.
  • Strong interest in building a career in construction accounting, business operations, or the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
