Key responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all phases of design and construction

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout project delivery

Job description

Registered Architect
Relocate to British Columbia's Interior Region
Commercial, Multifamily, Institutional & Community Projects
Salary: $90,000 to $120,000+ Depending on Experience
Project Leadership. Career Growth. Beautiful Location.

About the Firm

Our client is a well established architectural practice with multiple offices across British Columbia. Known for its collaborative culture and long standing client relationships, the firm delivers a diverse range of projects throughout the province, serving both public and private sector clients.

One of their growing Interior BC offices continues to experience a strong and consistent workload, supported by a healthy pipeline of projects and an established presence within the region. As the office expands, they are looking to add an experienced Registered Architect who is excited to take on greater project leadership while contributing to the continued growth of the team.

Why Consider Relocating from Edmonton?

If you're currently living and working in Edmonton, this is an opportunity to continue building your architectural career in Western Canada while experiencing a completely different lifestyle in British Columbia's Interior.

For architects who enjoy Alberta's access to the outdoors but are ready for a change, Interior BC offers a compelling combination of career opportunity, smaller city living, a milder climate, and year round access to some of Western Canada's most beautiful lakes, mountains and recreational areas.

You can trade longer commutes and big city living for communities where work, home and the outdoors are all within easy reach. Skiing, hiking, mountain biking, golf, boating, wineries and countless trails and lakes become part of everyday life rather than something reserved for a weekend away.

Professionally, the move can also provide something increasingly difficult to find within larger architectural markets: the opportunity to have a meaningful impact.

Many architects reach a point in their careers where they want more than simply their next project. They want greater ownership, stronger client relationships, increased responsibility, broader project exposure, and the opportunity to become an important part of the team and community they work within.

This opportunity offers exactly that.

You'll work across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, civic, educational, community, multifamily and mixed use projects while leading projects from early planning through construction. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and senior leadership, you'll have the opportunity to influence projects from concept through completion while continuing to develop as a project leader.

For an Edmonton architect who wants to stay in Western Canada but is ready for a change of scenery, a smaller community and greater access to the outdoors, Interior BC can offer an exceptional next chapter.

Whether you're looking for greater project responsibility, a new professional challenge, or simply a lifestyle change, this role offers the opportunity to build a rewarding long term career while enjoying an excellent work life balance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Registered Architect to lead projects through all phases of design and construction.

Working closely with senior leadership, consultants and clients, you'll manage multiple projects while overseeing design development, technical documentation, consultant coordination and construction administration. This role offers an excellent balance of technical leadership, project management and client facing responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all phases of design and construction
  • Manage project schedules, budgets and deliverables
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout project delivery
  • Prepare and review design packages, permit drawings and construction documentation
  • Provide technical leadership and quality control across multiple projects
  • Lead client meetings and maintain strong client relationships
  • Support Contract Administration, including RFIs, submittals, site reviews and change documentation
  • Mentor junior architectural and technical staff
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with applicable codes, regulations and firm standards

Qualifications

  • Registered Architect with the AAA, AIBC, or another Canadian provincial association, with the ability and willingness to transfer registration to the AIBC
  • Minimum 5 years of experience delivering architectural projects through all phases
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and construction practices
  • Excellent communication, organization and client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment
  • Open to relocating to British Columbia's Interior Region

What's On Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Relocation opportunity to one of British Columbia's growing architectural markets
  • Diverse project portfolio across commercial, institutional, civic, educational, community, multifamily and mixed use sectors
  • Opportunity to lead projects from concept through construction
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Long term career growth within an established and expanding architectural practice
  • Excellent work life balance with year round access to lakes, mountains, skiing, hiking, biking, golf and outdoor recreation
  • The opportunity to experience a new part of Western Canada while continuing to advance your architectural career

If you're a Registered Architect in Edmonton looking for greater project ownership, meaningful career growth and the opportunity to experience life in British Columbia's Interior, I'd love to connect.
