The Project Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial success of Corvant's projects by partnering closely with Operations, Project Management, and Finance teams. This position is responsible for monitoring project financial performance, ensuring accurate cost tracking, and supporting key operational accounting processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management
โข Manage project financials, including cost tracking, budget monitoring, and variance analysis
โข Perform project cost transfers and adjustments to ensure accurate job costing
โข Prepare and maintain project cost reports for Project Managers and leadership
โข Support month-end close activities related to project accounting
Billing & Accounts Payable
โข Manage project billing, including preparation and submission of AIA billing documents
โข Track, prepare, and submit Accounts Payable (AP) payment requests, ensuring proper approvals and timely processing
โข Support the change order process, including documentation, cost analysis, and system updates
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
โข Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
โข Assist with procurement activities, including material sourcing and vendor coordination
โข Ensure compliance with OCIP and CCIP requirements as applicable to assigned projects
Documentation & Cross-Functional Collaboration
โข Utilize document management tools (e.g., DocuSign) to route, track, and store critical project documentation
โข Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency
โข Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Accounting Manager or Vice President of Accounting & Finance
Qualifications
Required
โข Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
โข 3+ years of accounting/billing experience in the construction industry required; mechanical contracting or commercial construction strongly preferred
โข Solid understanding of job costing and project-based accounting principles
โข Knowledge and experience with AIA billing processes and documentation
โข Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I-9 upon hire
โข Employment subject to E-Verify confirmation
Skills & Abilities
โข Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
โข Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint or similar platforms)
โข Familiarity with OCIP and CCIP requirements and compliance
โข Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
โข Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
โข Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Background
โข Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, or a similar industrial services environment
โข Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-location accounting structures
โข Experience supporting high-growth or rapidly scaling operations
