Job description

You are looking to leverage your financial expertise in an organization that will provide you with new challenges and opportunities for growth and advancement. You want to work somewhere where you can make a significant impact. If that sounds like you, we have just the opportunity you are looking for. We are Meridian RV (https://www.meridianrv.com/) , a B.C.-based, third-generation family-run business established over 50 years ago. We are an RV dealership specializing in the sales, service, repair, and rentals of a wide range of new and pre-owned recreational vehicles and equipment.  Now, we are looking for a Controller to join our team and manage our financial operations.   Controller: Your goal in this position is to oversee our accounting and finance functions, and ensure that we’re making sound financial decisions. You will do this by managing accounting and financial practices like payables, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, as well as by performing these duties on a daily basis and always maintaining confidentiality. Practically speaking, you will: * Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and ledgers * Oversee the accounting cycle and recordkeeping, and cash management * Manage the company’s assets and finances to ensure solid variance analysis, and manage daily operations to ensure all transactions are recorded according to our policies and procedures * Assist department managers in reading and interpreting financial reports and with implementing action plans, creating charts, graphs, etc. and gathering and preparing information for meetings, reports, briefs, and other projects * Assist with development of annual budgets and manage budget variances, and forecast * Prepare, reconcile, and analyze balance sheet accounts (e.g., inventory, receivables, fixed assets, etc.) monthly, quarterly, and yearly * Administer the group benefits plan and provide back-up support for payroll Our business is constantly changing, and you will be in an exciting position to help us make large scale decisions that will positively impact us and the future of our business. You’ll be a great fit for this role if you are: * An excellent communicator – you can break down complex financial information and make it clear and easily understandable. * Organized – you know how to manage competing priorities, and because you plan ahead, you are comfortable with change and can be flexible. * Detail-Oriented – you never let a small detail slip through the cracks, and you can meet deadlines while still maintaining a high degree of accuracy. * Professional – you always maintain your professionalism and a positive attitude whether you’re interacting with management or employees. We want to hear your ideas and suggestions on areas where we can improve our processes, so your voice will be valued. Working at Meridian RV:   This is a full-time permanent position, working in our Port Coquitlam dealership, with occasional travel (with travel costs reimbursed) to our dealership in 100 Mile House. You will work from Monday to Friday, from 8:30am-5:00pm. You will earn a competitive compensation of $85,000-110,000 per year, commensurate with experience, health and dental benefits, and paid vacation time. If you asked our team why they love working here, they would tell you about the appreciation and recognition they experience daily. We are a growing company with a dedicated and collaborative team, who are always looking to advance. When you join us, you will be joining a team with who you can succeed and grow, long-term.    Qualifications: * CPA, CMA, or CGA designation * Experience working as an Accounting Controller or similar accounting position, overseeing financial operations and strategy * Experience working in an RV dealership or an automotive dealership * Strong proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and using Excel for financial reporting and analysis * Experience using an accounting software (specifically IDS or similar) * Experience mentoring, leading, and motivating employees * Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or similar * Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle How to Apply: Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume. The application will assess your qualifications, personality traits and workplace preferences, and should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. After submitting, you'll receive an email inviting you to log in and view your assessment results. We strive to build a team that reflects the diversity of the community we work in and encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups. If we can make this easier through accommodation in the recruitment process, please contact us using the “Help” button. We will review applications, with priority given to those who have completed the assessment and look forward to hearing from you.
