Fun, upbeat, team-oriented orthodontic practice seeking a part time/full time orthodontic assistant! Progress Ridge Orthodontics is growing rapidly and in order to thrive we are searching for someone who not only has experience, but also a fun personality. We want to fill this important role with someone who is not only a phenomenal assistant but also dedicated to giving our patients the outstanding experience they deserve.

Responsibilities

  • Assist orthodontistsduring various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with aseptic techniques.
  • Take digital dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education on orthodontic care instructions, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment protocols.
  • Support infection control protocols by following strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic flow by handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating medical documentation.

Requirements

  • Valid EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary) or EFODA (Expanded Functions Orthodontic Dental Auxiliary) certification with current licensure. Applicants without one of these certifications will not be considered.
  • This is clinical position. Prior experience in dental assisting, especially within pediatric dentistry or orthodontics, is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently and safely.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry is advantageous.
