in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Are you an experienced ICU RN looking for something a little different? We currently have a Night shift, 13-week contract available with a great local hospital!

As an PCU RN, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to medically complex and moderately to critically ill patients in a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step-Down setting during a 13-week contract assignment.
  • Continuously assess patient conditions, monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygenation, and other clinical indicators, and promptly recognize and respond to changes in patient status or emergencies.
  • Administer IV medications, cardiac medications, anticoagulants, blood products, and other prescribed therapies in accordance with physician orders, facility protocols, and patient-specific care plans.
  • Monitor and manage patients requiring telemetry, oxygen therapy, non-invasive respiratory support, continuous cardiac monitoring, and other advanced interventions appropriate to the PCU/Step-Down setting.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation, promote compliance with infection control and patient safety standards, and provide compassionate education and support to patients and families.
  • Recognize early signs of clinical deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions, including escalation of care and communication with the healthcare team when indicated.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts while maintaining professionalism and accountability in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications, competencies, and documentation to remain in compliance with facility and professional standards.

A few must-haves for PCU RNs:

  • Active RN or Compact license within the state of Indiana
  • Active Certifications Required: BLS &ACLS through the American Heart Association
  • 2 years of recent and relatedStepdown or Med/Tele or PCU experience, as required by the facility
  • Previous cardiac experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently, yet together as part of a team
  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure
  • Active BLS, physical, TB test, and other medical compliance as required by the facility
