Job description

Scope of Position:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our team at Waterbury Health. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care for individuals or groups of adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients in our inpatient psychiatric unit or partial hospital/intensive outpatient program. As a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, you will report to the Patient Care Manager and participate in various psychotherapy groups, including activities, educational, recreational, and community milieu treatment groups or programs. You will also assist in maintaining patient and unit safety and security and help perform various treatment procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care for individuals or groups of patients.
  • Act as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Participate alone, or with a co-therapist, in various psychotherapy groups (activities, educational, recreational, and community milieu treatment groups or programs).
  • Assist in maintaining patient and unit safety and security.
  • Assist in the performance of various treatment procedures.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related Human Services field.
  • One year of experience in the Human Services field preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working in a psychiatric or mental health setting is an advantage.
