Primary Functionย 

The Field Supervisor is a multi-project leader responsible for overseeing the execution and performance of Dashiell's field testing, commissioning, and maintenance operations. This role manages project schedules, budgets, and revenue targets while ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction across concurrent field service engagements.ย The Field Supervisor may also perform hands-on electrical testing and commissioning activities as operationally required.ย The position will be based inย Columbus, Ohioย and will report to Dashiell'sย Vice President of Field Services.ย 

Duties & Responsibilitiesย 

Employee may be called upon to perform any orย all ofย the following functions:ย 

  • Supervise and manage the execution of multiple concurrent Field Service projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.ย 

  • Maintain accountability for revenue and profitability on assigned projects; monitor project financials and take corrective action to protect margins.ย 

  • Plan andย allocateย field crew resources, equipment, and materials across projects toย optimizeย productivity and meet client schedules.ย 

  • Represent the company and the Field Services department in meetings with clients, ensuring professional communication, expectation alignment, and client satisfaction at a program level.ย 

  • Provide technical direction, training, and performance feedback to field staff; support hiring decisions and contribute to workforce development across the Field Services organization.ย 

  • Enforce corporate policies and procedures on assigned projects, including safety, quality, and operational standards.ย 

  • Represent the company in a QA/QC role, ensuring all testing and commissioning deliverables meet internal standards and client specifications.ย 

  • Conduct and lead Job Safety Task Analyses (JSTAs), safety briefings, and safety stand-down meetings; investigate and report on incidents, near-misses, and safety observationsย in accordance withย company protocols.ย 

  • Review job scope and conduct project kickoff meetings to convey scope, schedule, safety requirements, and technical expectations to field crews and subcontractors.ย 

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, and clients to resolve technical issues, manage scope changes, andย maintainย project momentum.ย 

  • Review and approve test reports, commissioning documentation, and quality deliverables produced by field crews.ย 

  • Perform electrical testing and commissioning activities as operationallyย required, including protective relay testing, power apparatus testing, and station auxiliary system testing.ย 

  • Direct and oversee testing and commissioning of power apparatus including power transformers, current transformers, potential transformers, medium- and high-voltage circuit breakers, and switchgear assemblies.ย 

  • Direct and oversee testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low-voltage AC/DC station auxiliary systems including station batteries, battery chargers, inverters, DC distribution panels, AC distribution systems, and voltage regulation controls.ย 

  • Support proposal and estimating teams with technical input on testing scope, crew requirements, durations, and equipment needs for project pursuits.ย 

  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.ย

Minimum Qualifications / Experienceย 

Requiredย 

  • Associate's orย Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (2 years for Associate's, 4 years for Bachelor's).ย 

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in high-voltage electrical testing and commissioning, withย demonstratedย supervisory and project management capability.ย 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all areas of electrical testing and commissioning sufficient to provide technical direction and quality oversight, including protective relay testing, power apparatus testing, circuit breaker testing, cable testing, station auxiliary systems, and full system commissioning.ย 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and revenue performance.ย 

  • Demonstrated experience in field crew management, resource planning, and workforce development.ย 

  • Strong understanding of project financials including revenue recognition, cost tracking, and margin management.ย 

  • Advanced ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and protection schemes.ย 

  • Strong technical report review skills with the ability to approve comprehensive commissioning documentation.ย 

  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).ย 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to clients, project leadership, and executive management.ย 

  • Mathematicalย proficiencyย through trigonometry.ย 

  • Thorough knowledge of safety and health regulations applicable to high-voltage electrical work, including NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.ย 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with the ability toย representย Dashiell in client-facing interactions at a program level.ย 

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.ย 

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.ย 

  • TWIC card or ability to obtain one.ย 

Preferredย 

  • Experience with Doble, Megger, Omicron, or similar test equipment platforms.ย 

  • Prior experience in electric utility T&D construction or industrial commissioning environments.ย 

  • Experience with SCADA systems, power lineย carrier, infrared thermography, and phasing and loading verification.ย 

  • Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM).ย 

  • Experience with projectย financial managementย and reporting tools.ย 

Physical Requirementsย 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours).ย 

  • Ability to climbย stairs and laddersย and access elevated work areas.ย 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.ย 

  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.ย 

  • Ability to work near energized electrical equipment.ย 

  • Ability toย wear required PPE at all times, including hardย hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing, gloves, and hearing protection.ย 

  • Ability toย operateย company vehicles safely andย maintainย a valid driver's license.ย 

  • Ability to travelย frequently, including overnight stays.ย

  • Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, humidity, and wind.ย
