What is a programming strategist?

A Programming Strategist is a professional who develops and manages content schedules and strategies for television, radio, streaming platforms, or digital media. They analyze audience data, market trends, and competitive programming to maximize viewership and engagement. Their responsibilities often include coordinating with marketing, production, and sales teams to ensure the content lineup aligns with business goals. Programming Strategists play a key role in optimizing the timing and selection of shows or content to attract and retain target audiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a programming strategist?

To thrive as a Programming Strategist, you need strong analytical skills, a solid background in media or content planning, and typically a degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with audience analytics tools, scheduling software, and data visualization platforms is important for making informed programming decisions. Creative thinking, collaboration, and clear communication are essential soft skills for developing engaging content strategies and working across teams. These skills ensure the creation and delivery of compelling, audience-driven programming that meets organizational objectives.

How does a programming strategist typically collaborate with content creators and marketing teams to optimize scheduling and audience engagement?

Programming Strategists work closely with content creators to understand the strengths and target audiences of various programs, ensuring that scheduling decisions maximize viewership and retention. Programming & Strategic Partnerships Manager

The June

Jacksonville, FL

$87K - $107K/yr

Full-time

Posted 6 days ago

Job description

About the Role

The June is seeking a creative, well-connected, and highly organized Programming & Strategic Partnerships Manager to build the calendar of experiences that define life inside the club, and the outside relationships that make that programming possible. This is a dual mandate: you'll source, curate, and produce the ongoing rhythm of dinners, DJ nights, speaker series, and curated evenings that keep members coming back, while also identifying and securing the brand, cultural, and community partnerships that elevate The June's presence and expand what's possible on our calendar.

The ideal candidate has a strong point of view on culture, food, music, and design; a deep and active network; and the operational discipline to turn ideas into a fully realized, member-worthy calendar month after month.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Calendar Curation

Own the development and execution of The June's year-round programming calendar, dinners, DJ and live music nights, speaker series, wellness programming, cultural events, and curated member evenings.

Identify and book talent: chefs, musicians, DJs, speakers, artists, and creative collaborators who fit the club's identity and elevate the member experience.

Balance recurring signature programming with fresh, unexpected one-off experiences that keep the calendar feeling alive and original.

Work with Culinary and Beverage to develop concepts for chef collaborations, wine and spirits dinners, and tasting series.

Set and manage a programming budget, balancing creative ambition with cost and profitability targets.

Track attendance, engagement, and member feedback to continuously refine and improve programming.

Strategic Partnerships

Identify, pitch, and secure partnerships with brands, cultural institutions, media, and local/national organizations that align with The June's identity.

Develop partnership structures (sponsorships, co-hosted events, in-kind trades, collaborations) that bring added value to members while supporting the club's brand and revenue goals.

Negotiate and manage partner agreements, ensuring clear deliverables, timelines, and mutual value.

Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective partners across food & beverage, fashion, design, wellness, media, and local Jacksonville institutions.

Represent The June externally in partnership conversations, maintaining the discretion and polish expected of a private club brand.

Production & Execution

Lead event production from concept through execution for all programming under your purview, run-of-show, staffing coordination, vendor and talent logistics.

Partner with Operations, F&B, and the Events Manager to ensure every program is flawlessly executed on-site.

Serve as an on-site producer for signature programming, ensuring quality control and a seamless member experience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the General Manager, Membership, Marketing, and Culinary teams to ensure programming reflects member interests and reinforces the club's brand.

Support marketing and communications for programming and partnerships, including collateral, event descriptions, and promotional content.

Gather member insights and feedback to shape future programming and partnership priorities.

Requirements

Who You Are

A natural curator with a strong, current point of view on food, music, culture, and design.

Deeply networked, with the ability to open doors and bring exciting names and partners to the table.

Equal parts creative and operational, you can dream up a concept and also execute the run-of-show.

A skilled negotiator who can secure great partnerships without compromising the brand.

Highly organized, with the ability to manage a full calendar and multiple partner relationships simultaneously.

Comfortable representing the club externally with polish, confidence, and discretion.

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in programming, talent booking, partnerships, brand collaborations, or event production within hospitality, private clubs, lifestyle brands, or cultural institutions.

Demonstrated experience securing and managing brand or strategic partnerships.

Proven track record producing high-quality events from concept through execution.

Strong negotiation, budgeting, and vendor/contract management skills.

Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with an active network in food, music, culture, or design.

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as programming requires.

Preferred Experience

Experience within a private membership club, boutique hotel, or premium lifestyle brand.

Existing relationships with talent, chefs, DJs, speakers, or brand partners relevant to the Jacksonville/Southeast market.

Experience with event and CRM platforms (Tripleseat, HubSpot, or similar).

Key Competencies

     Creative vision and cultural fluency

     Relationship building and networking

     Negotiation and deal-making

     Project and budget management

     Executive presence and professionalism

     Discretion and confidentiality

     Adaptability and resourcefulness

What Success Looks Like

A programming calendar that consistently sells out, surprises members, and defines The June's reputation in the market.

A growing roster of strategic partners who add real value to the member experience and to the business.

Flawless execution across every dinner, DJ night, speaker series, and curated evening.

Members who see The June's calendar as a reason to renew, and a reason to bring their friends.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the cultural identity of one of Jacksonville's most exciting new hospitality ventures, building both the experiences and the relationships that will define what The June becomes. If you love bringing ideas and people together, we'd love to meet you.
