Job description

Position Summary: An intern supports the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist senior or lead (architects, engineers, interior designers, project managers) with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support
  • Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases
  • Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials
  • Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
  • Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
  • Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices
  • Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members
  • Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience
Full-time student currently pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in water and wastewater project
Qualifications Preferred
  • Coursework in a related field
  • Previous internship or relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members

Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. The role includes construction site observations, which may range from several days to multiple weeks. The work environment involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions and requires walking on uneven surfaces commonly found on active construction sites.
