Engineering Intern
The Student Worker - Engineering is responsible for providing daily support of multiple product families with specific regard to product quality, product cost, process improvements, safety, and customer feedback. Areas of responsibility include chemical, polymer extrusion, textile, and bio-medical processes. Duties include managing and/or participating in cross functional teams to accomplish project specific goals. This person will be mentored to become the resident expert on production equipment and processes, and play a supporting role for new products transitioning from R&D into manufacturing production. Key responsibility will be to ensure efficient product processing while maintaining established quality/cost/safety standards.
Provide daily production support to set up, trouble shoot, repair, and monitor of chemical, polymer extrusion, textile, and bio-medical process equipment.
Review manufacturing equipment and processes for improvement potential using statistical data and analysis of equipment condition then effectively manage change projects.
Team with manufacturing and quality personnel on a daily basis to review / disposition production defects and provides potential process and/or equipment corrective actions to assure production schedules and quality expectations are met.
Review product field returns to determine root cause of potential manufacturing defects then develop and implement effective corrective actions.
Provide expertise in specification development, procurement, build, documentation, validation, and personnel training for chemical, polymer extrusion, textile, and bio-medical related processes.
Support new product development, quality improvement, and integration projects.
Manage Eng changes notices, BOM creation, SPAC system, and general ERP support.
Maintain excellent communications with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, Planning, and Metrology departments on an as needed basis.
Ability to lead cross functional teams a plus, using project management tools such as Microsoft Project Gantt charts, tracking financials of project, holding successful meetings, and distributing timely minutes.
Follow established guidelines and management direction with regard to engineering decisions and departmental/company policy.
