Job description

We are looking for a Roadway Engineering Intern in Charlotte, NC office this Fall. 

The Roadway Engineering Intern will collaborate and be mentored by the top Engineering associates on our team. The selected candidate will work with associates assisting the Charlotte Roadway Design Group on a variety of conventional and design-build projects that combine innovative roadway design with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation Engineering Industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
  • Prepare and revise plan documents details
  • Collect and prepare data for evaluation
  • Perform engineering tasks with the use of computer-assisted design software and equipment
  • Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications:            

  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited university
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Anticipated Graduation in Dec 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • AutoCAD and / or Microstation experience
  • Experience or exposure to North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans preparation and design standards
  • Specific interest in Transportation / Roadway Design
