Trojan Battery Company is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team. Manufacturing Engineer Intern will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will be responsible for the design, development, improvement and explore competitive manufacturing technologies to effectively manufacture a high-quality product in a safe environment. In this role you will provide process-related input to cross-functional teams, lead solutions of process related issues, and assist in developing new capital projects and expenditures based on process or capacity related studies. The Manufacture Engineer will also provide direct supervisory support for planning & implementation of capital projects.

Areas of Focus
Manufacturing Engineer Intern will focus on learning how our organization runs. Intern accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for determining how key functions in a process are identified, defined & controlled
  • Troubleshoot areas for quality and manufacturing efficiency improvement.
  • Improve capability through statistically screening variables that have the greatest impact to our process
  • Provide process and operations support and input to cross functional teams.
  • Ensure that Lean manufacturing principles are apply for waste removal and ergonomics within all aspects of system, lines, and cells design. As well be familiar with Tack Times, SMED, Poke Yoke, Kan-Bans, Kaizen, 6S, A3, TPM, etc.
  • Capable to improve all Production Machines Corrective, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance improvements as needed
  • Determine costs, vendor selection, and accurate implementation.
  • Retain responsibility for all project expenditures and ensure assigned projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for compliance and maintaining and adhering to local and federal regulations within system design
  • Establish a safe and ergonomically correct work environment
  • Prepare engineering documents including, Process Flow Diagram, pFMEA, Standard Operation Sheets, Job Element Sheets, and related time studies, cost estimates, line and cell balancing, standard operation sheets, capital expense requests, project schedules, design specifications, equipment specifications, and construction specifications
  • Knowledgeable in ISO-9001

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 4-year degree required, in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical and or Electro-Mechanical Engineer preferred
  • Solid knowledge base in battery manufacturing processes, preferably lead-acid batteries
  • Strong project management skill set
  • Proactive, ability to think in an overall business and financial manner
  • Motivated self-starter who is able to manage multiple tasks
  • Be able to work under pressure and as business needs
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, AutoCAD, and statistical software
  • Proficient in technical writer
  • Ability to guide, prioritize and execute own efforts with minimal direct supervision
  • Some work travel may be required

Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00
