About the Role:

The Senior Director, Commercial is responsible for leading key commercial initiatives, driving revenue and margin performance, overseeing complex commercial negotiations, and ensuring disciplined execution of pricing, contracting, and customer strategies.

Reporting

The Senior Director, Commercial reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Duties & Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Execution

  • Execute and operationalize the commercial strategy established by the COO.
  • Translate strategic objectives into executable plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Identify and advance initiatives that drive revenue growth, margin, expansion, and market positioning.
  • Support analysis of market trends, customer demand, and industry developments.

Revenue & Commercial Performance

  • Drive revenue and profitability across assigned portfolios, regions, or product lines.
  • Manage commercial pipelines, forecasting, and performance tracking against defined KPIs.
  • Monitor contract performance and customer profitability, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.

Pricing, Contracting & Negotiation

  • Lead and oversee complex commercial negotiations with customers, OEMs, suppliers, and strategic partners.
  • Implement pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with margin integrity.
  • Ensure commercial agreements are commercially sound, risk-aware, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Customer & Partner Relationship

  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key customers and industry partners.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for customer issues, contract disputes, and negotiation challenges.
  • Support the development and management of strategic alliances and long-term partnerships.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, Legal, HR, Marketing, and Customer Services.
  • Ensure commercial commitments align with operational capabilities, financial objectives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote integrated, disciplined, and compliant execution across functions.

People Leadership & Governance

  • Lead, coach, and develop commercial team members, fostering accountability and high performance.
  • Establish and maintain commercial governance, approval processes, and reporting disciplines.
  • Set clear performance expectations aligned with Avmax's values and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with HR on talent planning, succession, performance management, and organizational design.
  • Identify and develop high-potential talent with the Commercial organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent education preferred.
  • Strong financial literacy with the ability to interpret commercial and financial metrics.

Experience

  • 8-12 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial, sales, or strategic roles.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a senior leadership or management capacity.
  • Experience in aviation, leasing, asset management, or aviation services preferred.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory and compliance environments is considered an asset.
