Job Title: Project Director (Institutional & Commercial Construction)

Location: Calgary, Alberta (On‑site)

Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 annually (based on experience)

With a strong project backlog and a collaborative leadership culture, they are seeking a Project Director to lead multiple complex building projects and help elevate delivery performance across the organization.

This is a hands‑on senior leadership role suited to a construction professional who thrives in portfolio delivery, team development, and client engagement, someone who enjoys being close to the work while shaping how projects are delivered.

As part of the local leadership team, the Project Director takes full ownership of the delivery of multiple commercial and institutional projects, leading through a team of Project Managers and site leadership.

Beyond project execution, you will play a key role in mentoring and developing teams, strengthening client relationships, supporting business development efforts, and reinforcing best‑practice delivery across the organization. Your influence will be felt not only on active sites, but in how the company consistently delivers work.

What You"ll Do:

• Lead, coach, and mentor multiple project teams (Project Managers, Coordinators, Superintendents, and support staff), fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
• Take full accountability for the execution of multiple commercial and institutional projects from preconstruction planning through to close‑out.
• Guide preconstruction, bidding, budgeting, constructability reviews, and pursuit strategies while securing the resources required to meet project commitments.
• Establish, align, and oversee Project Execution Plans, ensuring scope, schedules, staffing, budgets, risks, and deliverables remain aligned with corporate objectives.
• Lead contract strategy, commercial oversight, construction sequencing, and site logistics across multiple delivery models to optimize safety, productivity, and schedule.
• Drive disciplined financial performance through forecasting, cost control, change management, risk mitigation, and margin protection across the project portfolio.
• Strengthen client, consultant, and subcontractor relationships; support business development pursuits; represent the organization externally; and champion safety and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:

• 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial and institutional construction, with senior leadership responsibility across multiple projects.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop project teams while delivering complex construction work successfully.
• Strong experience across preconstruction, bidding, and execution using delivery models such as Lump Sum, Construction Management, and Design‑Build.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, cost control, risk management, and margin protection.
• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or equivalent construction experience.
• Gold Seal Certification (GSC) required; additional credentials such as PQS, LEED, trade certification, or business education considered assets.
• Strong leadership presence, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with site teams, clients, consultants, and senior leadership while managing multiple priorities.
