Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Resilient Environments (Wood) will be accepting resumes to employ students in the coming 2022 summer and fall months (May to October). These individuals will fill the role of Materials Laboratory and Field Technicians in Calgary, Alberta. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to develop their career and experience in the engineering and construction field.

All applicants must have a valid Alberta driver's license and be required to submit an up-to-date driver's abstract upon being hired.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include conducting various tests on asphalt pavements, concrete, aggregates and various soils in both laboratory and field environment. This position will require working on out of town projects. In addition, the incumbent will:

  • Maintain orderliness of laboratory.
  • Preparation of inspection reports and data entry.
  • Follow Wood's Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies.
  • Contrusction monitoring of roads, pads, buildings etc.
  • Field Concrete testing
  • Field Compaction testing
  • Laboratory work 
Skills / Qualifications
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Some form of Civil Engineering education, either from a university or technical school
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Willing to do a variety of tasks and able to prioritize
  • CSA Safety boots required
  • Ability to work in the laboratory and office settings
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required
