Gas Turbine Performance Engineer I

Role Overview
The Gas Turbine Performance Engineer I provides entry-level engineering support for evaluating and improving gas turbine thermal performance. This role supports performance analysis, field testing, combustion system studies, and fluid system design while developing foundational skills in gas turbine engineering. Working under guidance of senior engineers, the position contributes to meeting contractual performance obligations and supporting business development initiatives through data analysis, testing, and technical reporting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support evaluation of gas turbine thermal performance including power output, heat rate, pressures, temperatures, and component efficiencies using engineering principles.
  • Assist in analyzing remote monitoring data to evaluate performance, availability, and reliability and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform basic diagnostic analysis of operational data to support identification of performance losses.
  • Support detailed compressor and turbine performance analysis under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist in development of thermal performance testing procedures aligned with ASME or ISO standards.
  • Participate in field performance testing, including data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Support combustion system and fuel utilization studies, including emissions analysis and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist in fluid system design and analysis including P&ID interpretation, component selection, and system evaluation.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support engineering and operational objectives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with emphasis on thermal fluids from an accredited institution.
  • 0-3 years of experience in gas turbine engineering, performance analysis, or related field (including internships or co-ops).
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and gas turbine performance principles.
  • Exposure to data analysis, engineering calculations, and technical problem solving.
  • Familiarity with engineering software, modeling tools, or programming languages is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required.
