Job description

Civil Service Title- Assistant Civil Engineer
In order to be considered for this position candidate must have filed for civil service exam # 7006, and provide of filing.
The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City. Under supervision, serve as Project Engineer in the Engineering Support section of the Division of Bridges. Assist in responding to record drawing requests from in-house staff, other agencies, and consultants. Assist in reviewing contract, as built, and shop drawings for bridge capital projects. Perform other related duties as needed.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
