Job description

Role Summary

Our client, an employee-owned manufacturing organization, is seeking an IT & OT Software and Applications Manager to lead software development and application teams across both IT and operational technology (OT) environments.

This role oversees the design, development, and support of ERP systems, custom applications, and data platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational efficiency. The position manages a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, and application specialists and plays a key role in advancing technology capabilities, including AI-driven development tools.

This position is also part of a succession plan for future IT leadership, offering long-term growth potential.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, data scientists, analysts, and product owners (approximately 15–25+ team members).

  • Oversee development and support of ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred), custom applications, and data platforms.

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable, value-driven solutions.

  • Manage software delivery using agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Establish and track team performance metrics (KPIs/OKRs) and system effectiveness.

  • Drive system support, troubleshooting, and end-user training initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data privacy standards.

  • Promote adoption of modern development practices, including AI-enabled tools and automation.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to systems and processes.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7–10 years of experience in software development or application management.

  • 3–5 years of experience managing teams, including teams of 15–25+ professionals.

  • Experience with .NET and JavaScript development environments.

  • Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred).

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and secure coding practices.

  • Experience leading or supporting data science or analytics teams, including exposure to machine learning and data governance.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

  • Experience leveraging AI development tools to improve productivity and software outcomes.

  • Exposure to enterprise architecture and system integration across IT and OT environments.


Compensation & Work Model
  • Compensation: Tiered structure based on experience and ability to drive advanced technology initiatives.

  • Bonus: Target bonus of approximately 10%, based on a rolling multi-year salary structure.

  • Equity/Ownership: Participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) (~15% annual contribution).
