Access Controls Verkada Programmer
Location: Remote
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Verkada Embedded Security Systems Specialist to support the deployment, migration, programming, testing, and commissioning of Verkada access control and video surveillance systems across multiple locations. This role will focus on converting existing sites to Verkada, building and maintaining site configurations, validating system functionality, and supporting deployment activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical security systems, such as field installation, service, or programming, and be comfortable working with access control, video surveillance, and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and program Verkada Access Control systems, including controllers, readers, door hardware, access levels, schedules, user groups, and permissions.
  • Configure and commission Verkada camera systems, applying naming conventions, retention policies, and alert rules.
  • Support the migration of legacy access control and video surveillance systems to Verkada.
  • Perform device onboarding, provisioning, firmware validation, and system health checks.
  • Conduct post-installation testing of cameras, doors, readers, alerts, and integrations.
  • Coordinate with IT teams, installation teams, service technicians, and project managers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including device inventories, site configuration records, and as-built documentation.
  • Work with onsite technicians during installation to ensure systems are turned on, programmed, and working correctly.
Required Qualifications
  • 2 years of Verkada programming experience.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience as a field technician or lead technician.
  • Must be Verkada certified.
  • Experience installing, servicing, programming, or supporting security technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and deployment activities simultaneously.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management industry experience.
  • Firmware/version upgrade experience.
  • Experience with platforms such as LenelS2, Genetec, Software House C CURE, Honeywell Pro-Watch, Avigilon Alta/Openpath, or Brivo.
  • Working knowledge of door hardware, including electric strikes, maglocks, and credential readers.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, DHCP, and DNS.
