Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CMM Programmer to develop, maintain, and optimize our CMM programs to ensure accurate measurement of precision components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with CMM operation, programming, and quality control processes within a fast-paced CNC machine manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Programming & Operation:
  • Develop and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS programming software on Hexagon Global CMMs.
  • Program and operate CMMs to perform dimensional inspections of complex and tight tolerance components.
  • Perform the CMM "prove-out" and validation on first-run or revised programs. Refine program and inspection method as necessary.
  • Translate engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T into accurate inspection routines.

2. Inspection & Quality Control:
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections of parts.
  • Analyze measurement data and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and suggest corrective actions.

3. Process Improvement:
  • Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering and Production Teams to optimize inspection processes.
  • Improve efficiency of programming and inspection methods and processes (both speed and accuracy; minimize necessary secondary verifications)

4. Documentation:
  • Create and maintain detailed inspection reports.
  • Document and update work instructions and standard operating procedures as applicable.

5. Training & Mentorship:
  • Train and advise inspectors and Quality Engineering team members on CMM programming and operation as necessary.
  • Provide guidance in interpreting GD&T and quality requirements.

6. Equipment Maintenance:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CMM software and hardware issues.

Qualifications
1. Education:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Certifications and experience may be used to offset degree requirements.

2. Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in CMM programming and inspection in a manufacturing environment preferably for machined product.
  • Extensive experience with GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.

3. Skills:
  • Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, etc.). PC-DMIS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, metrology principles, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, ASME Y14.5).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

4. Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with CAD software and 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.).

5. Certifications (optional but preferred):
  • Certification in GD&T or Metrology (e.g., ASME Y14.5 certification).
  • Certification in CMM Programming Software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, etc.).
