What we are looking for:
We’re looking for a Programmer to help develop, configure, test, and support document-composition. They will also support print-file solutions using approved programming, automation, and data-processing tools. This role interprets client requirements, evaluates input data, builds or modifies programs, and generates accurate production-ready output within established deadlines. The Programmer is accountable for meeting department quality and productivity standards, documenting work, reporting time and issues accurately, and maintaining a working knowledge of the hardware, software, and processes used by the department.
What you will be doing:
 
  • Use data-processing and document-composition tools to evaluate input files, apply client requirements, and generate production-ready print and data output.
  • Use BCC Ignite, Quadient Inspire, internally developed program libraries, and other approved company tools to build and support client solutions.
  • Evaluate data and verify job instructions, specifications, and required output before programming and file generation begin.
  • Perform quality-control checks throughout development and before release to ensure accurate programming, document composition, print-file generation, and output integrity.
  • Record labor, project status, processing results, and identified issues accurately and timely in designated tracking systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, production partners, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and complete work successfully.
  • Apply applicable USPS rules and regulations to mail-piece design and data output, including MIK lines, barcodes, addressing standards, and address placement.
  • Follow all company and department procedures including but not limited to those regarding safety, security of data, confidentiality and quality control.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation for program logic, automated jobs, project execution, cross-training, troubleshooting, and time tracking.
  • Develop, modify, maintain, integrate, and apply Python, SQL, and C# programming to existing automation to internally develop libraries and produce the required end product.
  • Monitor, validate, and troubleshoot automated and batch-processing jobs, including solutions developed by other team members.
  • Document processes and automated jobs enabling cross functional teams to clearly understand, execute, support, and troubleshoot the work when needed.
  • Partner with Technology Support to diagnose and resolve issues involving Data Services and automation tools.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and, when required, clients regarding requirements, status, risks, and issue resolution.
  • Research technical issues, identify root causes, evaluate possible solutions, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Who you are:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 0-1 years of experience with demonstrated technical proficiency and ability to perform the essential functions of the role
  • Proficiency with Python and/or C# and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient use and knowledge of Quadient Inspire and BCC Ignite
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and client data and to follow all applicable data-security and audit requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, resulting in accurate, well-planned projects with minimal execution issues
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment.
  • Strong initiative, persistence, and efficient use of time and resources to achieve project goals and support department productivity and profitability.
  • Ability to learn and apply USPS mailing regulations
  • Preferred experience with:
    • SQL Server or another database-management platform
    • Visual development tools such as C#, Visual Basic, or similar technologies
    • Python or another scripting language
    • Industry-specific document-composition tools, such as Inspire Designer (PrintNetT), Planet Press, First Logic, BCC Mail Manager, Doc1, or Dialogue
