Job description

About Us

We are a leading aluminum extrusion manufacturer committed to precision, innovation, and outstanding customer service. Our team works closely with customers across a wide range of industries to provide engineered solutions, custom extrusions, and value-added services. As we continue to grow, we are looking for motivated individuals who want to build a long-term career in technical sales within the manufacturing sector.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer Trainee who will begin by supporting our sales and engineering teams with technical drawings, part reviews, and customer communication, with the clear path to advance into a full Sales Engineer role.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with people, learning new technical skills, and contributing directly to customer success.

Key Responsibilities

Initial Responsibilities (Technical / Training Phase):

  • Review customer drawings and convert them into extrusion-ready technical documentation
  • Assist in developing CAD models, print revisions, tolerances, and technical notes
  • Support quoting activities through drawing interpretation and specification analysis
  • Work directly with engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of designs
  • Help troubleshoot customer issues and recommend solutions based on extrusion capabilities

Growth Responsibilities (Sales Engineer Phase):

  • Manage customer accounts and respond to technical and commercial inquiries
  • Develop a strong understanding of profiles, dies, alloys, fabrication, and finishing
  • Visit customer sites to provide technical guidance and ensure successful applications
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate quotes, lead times, and project updates
  • Build long-term customer relationships through trust, responsiveness, and problem-solving

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine interest in helping customers find solutions
  • Strong social and communication skills — comfortable working with people at all levels
  • High attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience with CAD or technical drafting (AutoCAD, or similar) preferred
  • Ability to learn manufacturing processes and apply technical concepts
  • Self-motivated, organized, and eager to grow into a sales-oriented career
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (mostly day trips) but primarily on-site in Wylie, TX

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Prior exposure to aluminum extrusion, machining, manufacturing, or fabrication is a plus but not required
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for customer visits as needed

What We Offer

  • Clear career pathway from technical role to Sales Engineer
  • Hands-on training in extrusion design, manufacturing processes, and customer management
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • A collaborative, team-focused environment with strong support for professional growth
