About the Role
iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at the Associate or Assistant Vice President level. You will design, build, and operate services that power the iCapital platform.
You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical partners throughout the development lifecycle. Our service-oriented platform primarily uses Scala, Ruby, and Python, but prior experience with these languages is not required. We value strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.
Qualifications
• 3- 5+ years experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
• Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality.
Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $140,000 depending on level. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
