Job description

The Automated Inspection Programmer develops, maintains and continuously improves measurement systems and equipment to ensure the quality of products and processes.

The Automated Inspection Programmer is expected to:

· Complete NPD quality projects on time

· Review customer specification changes and revise supporting documentation within designated timeframe

Metrology 50%

· Programs automated inspection equipment to

o Optical Gage Products Smart Scope

§ Measuremind

§ Zone 3

o Keyence IM & VR

o Mitutoyo CMM

§ MCOSMOS

o Starrett

§ M3

· Assists in design and development of fixtures and gages used for inspection

· Performs Gage R&R studies and other measurement systems analysis

· Performs first article inspections and process capability studies to support manufacturing and development

· Works independently, with New Product Development and Process Engineers to deliver programs and information on the measurement of parts and gages with minimal supervision.

· Performs engineering capability and stability studies

· Applies GD&T Y14.5 standard and other measurement techniques to review and understand part print design and intention.

· Assists with providing information regarding measurement techniques used on products to customers and suppliers as needed

· Ability to lead metrology initiatives at moderate complexity.

Research & Analysis 25%

· Performs validation protocol development & execution for metrology equipment & test methods.

· Determines root causes of measurement system failures and makes appropriate modifications in accordance with company quality system requirements

Reporting & Documentation 25%

· Assists with creating work instructions for the Quality Assurance Department.

· Maintains all divisional quality inspection records

· Creates and updates inspection drawing criteria for new and revised components

This position has no talent management responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

· At least 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

· Experience in programming wide variety of measurement systems.
