Job description

Job Opportunity: Instrumentation Programmer
KAAPA is hiring a detail oriented, dependable Instrumentation Programmer based in Kearney who will travel to our Minden, Ravenna, and Aurora locations with a focus on plant reliability.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement programming solutions for instrumentation systems at all company facilities
  • Perform preventative and proactive maintenance tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform inspections and adjustments on equipment
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to determine project priorities and dispatch requirements
  • Ensure all instrumentation programming meets company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Learn the plant process for a better understanding of how the equipment is utilized
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation programming and other technical problems
  • Provide technical support and training to facility personnel as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Work in a safe manner at all times
  • Assist in identifying safety hazards and/or regulatory compliance problems
  • Follow procedures for plant operations and safety
  • Must be self-motivated and provide quality work with possible time restrictions
Working Hours:
  • Monday- Friday 8am- 4:30pm and must be available for overtime work and/or on a call-in basis as required as the plant is operational 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary education and/or technical trade certificate preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience with electrical and instrumentation installation, troubleshooting, and repair. Additional experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics desired
  • Proven experience in instrumentation programming
  • Strong knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools
  • Experience in operation of an ethanol plant, manufacturing, and production helpful
  • Ability to use and interpret phase testers, multi-meters, and meggers. Operate drill press, grinder, and other metal working equipment desired
  • Experience in the repair of equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, airlocks, agitator assembles, piping systems, boiler operations, conveyers, etc. Desired
  • Able to write and maintain detailed repair reports and other records
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Learn and effectively use Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
