POSITION DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Jr. Production Programmer Machinist has an exciting opportunity as an up-and-comer in their career to own the entire production machining process, while helping support the production lines. The ideal candidate will utilize their strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills to program, set-up, and operate a variety of machine tools to produce or modify parts. This Machinist will excel in trouble-shooting and setting up HAAS machines, as well as creating and modifying simple lathe and mill programs. The ideal candidate will read/write canned cycles, and have a strong desire for continuous education and learn CAD/CAM as the need arises. To excel in this role, the Jr. Production Programmer Machinist will be able to exercise their organizational and detail-oriented skills to deliver high quality product for the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Program at the control, set-up and operate CNC lathes and mills (Haas preferred) to produce precision replacement and low volume parts
  • Determine a machining strategy for low volume parts
  • Determine the proper tools/speeds/feeds for each job
  • Operate a Prototrak mill and lathe to modify existing parts
  • Ensure accuracy and quality using precision measuring tools, and maintain tight tolerances across small quantity production runs
  • Document processes and maintain accurate records for repeatability and machine shop knowledge retention
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of machining practices, including process efficiency, tooling selection, and shop organization (6S)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3+ Years of machine programming experience
  • Familiarity with G-Code programming and conversational programming (Prototrak, Hass)
  • Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to read and navigate blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and climb up/down a ladder
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
