Job description

Job Summary:
The Louisiana Supreme Court is seeking a motivated, self-starting Part-Time Student Worker to join the Court Information Technology Division. This position will assist the IT Department professional staff with software development, scripting, automation, data processing, and application maintenance that support internal court operations.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of internal applications and system tools
• Create scripts to automate routine IT tasks (data processing, reporting, system checks)
• Support integration work between existing systems and new applications
• Assist with database queries, data cleanup, and basic data analysis
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and documentation updates
• Provide support to various court departments on custom-developed tools
• Work with IT staff on a variety of projects, including modernization, data migration, and process automation
• Follow coding best practices, version control processes, and internal development standards
Qualifications:
Required:
• Awareness or foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, etc.)
• Understanding of basic programming concepts such as variables, loops, functions, objects, and debugging
• Awareness of database usage, SQL fundamentals, and data structures
• Keen interest in software development, automation, and computer‑based information systems
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to research technical problems, read documentation, and apply solutions
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Pursuing an IT‑related undergraduate or graduate degree (Computer Science, MIS, IT, Computer Engineering, etc.)
