The Opportunity:
CACI is looking for a servant leader to manage a team of talented engineers on mission-critical programs. This role is designed for an experienced people manager with strong technical background in one of the following: software engineering, AI/ML, systems engineering, or DevSecOps. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of engineers while staying technically engaged to support complex problem-solving and ensure engineering quality.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage, coach, and mentor a team of engineers across multiple disciplines, fostering their technical and professional growth through regular 1:1 meetings where you deliver feedback, set goals, manage performance, and aid in career development
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, salary planning, and retention of engineering talent
  • Support program execution through workforce management and direct program work
  • Assist with managing project priorities, timelines, and deliverables, proactively identifying and removing roadblocks
  • Employ agile management that adjust to dynamic staffing and program needs
  • Lead a diverse staff across multiple disciplines
  • Stay current with engineering practices and contribute to technical discussions to ensure quality and adherence to standards
  • Work closely with technical leadership, program management, and customer stakeholders to align priorities and ensure successful delivery
  • Agile leader duties may include product ownership/management, release management, and removal of team impediments

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following domains: - Software engineering and development for complex systems
    - AI/ML engineering, data science, or algorithm development
    - Systems engineering for software-intensive projects
    - DevSecOps, infrastructure engineering, cloud development, or platform engineering
  • 1+ years of demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., Engineering Manager, Team Lead, project leadership)
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering efforts using Agile methods and practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate highly skilled teams while maintaining customer focus
  • Ability to effectively balance management responsibilities with technical contribution

Desired:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field
  • Recent formal leadership experience (within the last year)
  • Experience directly managing engineers through full performance management cycles
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience in delivery of systems and/or software releases to customers
  • Experience interviewing and building high-performing teams
