Description
PROGRAMMER ANALYST
The Programmer Analyst is responsible for utilizing the Meditech Data Repository (SQL) for the purpose of generating ad-hoc reports for all areas of the hospital to include financial as well as clinical and specific outcomes related data. HL7 messaging and the MIRTH Interface Engine is required and a key part of the role in managing hospital interface connections. Knowledge and experience with Meditech data structures and SQL are critical. Knowledge of Meditech Report Designer and NPR report writing is a plus.
Essential Functions for the Position
• Develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries and SSRS reports.
• Serve as the primary resource for SQL reporting, troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Design, implement, and maintain interfaces using HL7 and custom message formats.
• Support and manage the Mirth Interface Engine, including troubleshooting, enhancements, and new implementations.
• Collaborate with Application Manager and stakeholders to assess impact of system configurations and implementations.
• Act as liaison between Information Systems and hospital departments for system development, deployment, and training.
• Enhance EHR reporting and data workflows to improve operational efficiency across departments.
• Coordinate system testing for new installations and upgrades, including NPR/RW Data Repository.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, procedures, and analytical findings.
• Develop and update policies, procedures, user manuals, and training materials as needed.
• Ensure appropriate user access and data security for confidential information.
• Participate in on-call support for rare emergency situations.
Position Requirements
• Experience with Meditech NPR/RW and SQL (SSRS) report development.
• Experience creating and managing system interfaces, including HL7 messaging.
• Proficiency in maintaining a Mirth Interface Engine.
• Strong working knowledge of Meditech Data Repository (SQL) for reporting and data analysis.
• Ability to support SQL-related needs across all phases of EHR lifecycle (implementation, optimization, and daily operations).
• Familiarity with Meditech applications and hospital workflows.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments.
• Knowledge of hospital operations, policies, and procedures preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to support team collaboration and maintain a positive work environment.
